Time, Motion, and Sneaker Study

Choosing a sneaker as the object of main focus for this project, I analyzed the emotions of a sneaker and the foot inside it as one takes a step. Through collages, paintings, drawings and models, I showed the various ways a shoe can be experienced. I then explored the culture of street art behind the sneaker, such as graffiti as a way of propaganda for the generally younger generation.

Pavilion

This eventually led me to my architectural model of a pavilion that people can walk on, under, and around, focusing on each step they take. The pavilion amplifies the importance of walking by amplifying the experience of walking. Each pipe represents a step a person takes, making them conscious of where and how they step, as well as conjuring up memories of stepping.
