Mashinka

Mashinka is a wearable approach to materials and mechanics. Originally inspired by the torture devices in the movie Saw, we saw an opportunity to push the boundaries of the human body with the intricacies of metal work. Each piece is artfully designed to weaken a part of the human form, reveling both the power and beauty in machines. We began our designs of 3 male pieces and 1 female piece in November and worked up until the fashion which was in February.

Mashinka

Concept: A wearable approach to materials and mechanics that are used for torture and killing. Killing machines are carefully crafted to push the boundaries of the human body and eventually overcome them, leaving the human powerless and often formless at the end. Each piece is artfully designed to weaken a part of the human form, revealing both the power and beauty in machines.

Inspiration: Saw, Salem witch trials, Prosthetics, Steam punk

Video Introduction

A short video, created by Jennifer Kang, introduced our line at the beginning of our segment of the fashion show before the models began to walk down the aisle.
